Doing What You Love - Post 277

Doing what you love.

I love the title of this book written by Marsha Sinetar, "Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow."

Now I'm not sure that's always true but since we spend a great deal of our time earning an income, life would be a whole lot more pleasant if we really did enjoy what we are doing.

I've mentioned to you guys before that I've spent a lot of time over the past couple years speaking with high income earners. One of the things that I noticed over and over again is that they truly enjoy doing what it is that they are doing. In almost every case they were in a job at one point in their life that they really did not enjoy. Once they found something they did enjoy they learned how to take what they loved and turn that passion into an income stream.

Take a look at Dave Ramsey, the author of Financial Peace, after losing everything in his life he discovered that he had a passion for helping others avoid the financial mistakes he had made. He has now turned that passion for helping others into a very lucrative, service based enterprise.

In my own industry take a look at a good friend of mine, Dale Johnson down in Paducah Ky. He owned a night-club restaurant business. Because of the nature of the business he worked really long hours, longer hours than what I did in my pharmacy business. Many nights he actually slept on one of the sofa's in his lounge because by the time he got his bar shut down for the night and everything cleaned up and restocked, it was just about time to begin prepping for breakfast at the restaurant. Once he found his passion of helping others create and run their own businesses he went on to make a multiple 7 figure income and now enjoys helping others and spending time with his family. He truly is happy with his life now.

It makes it so much easier to go to work knowing you really enjoy what you are doing.

Let me ask you, would you choose this type of work, whatever it is you do, if there were other options?

Many people go through life with the attitude that work is unavoidable; you gotta do what you gotta do. They are unhappy with their life. They act as though work is a punishment and their leisure time was a reward. They hate work and can't wait to get home everyday.

Many of the people that I've met in the past 2 years actually love what they are doing. They can't wait to get started every day. Don't get me wrong, they work long hours but they truly enjoy themselves and this happiness spills over into everything they do in their life.

Successful people love work and hate leaving it, unsuccessful people hate their work and can't wait to get home then dread going back the next day. For the first time in my life I actually can't wait to get to work, of coarse my office is in my home but I truly can't wait to get started each day.

Let me ask you this, would you continue to work at your current job if you won a million dollars in the lottery tomorrow?

If you would quit, then what you are doing right now is not the thing for you.

Let me ask you another question, do you watch the clock all day long; the second hand slowing clicking by? Time never seems to move?

If so then what you are doing right now is not the thing for you. People that enjoy their job are seldom aware of the time.

Folks I used to be the same way. I knew that if I were to win the lottery, I knew that I would continue to work, to do something. But I knew it wouldn't be pharmacy. I knew I would leave that job in a heartbeat. I knew that I would pursue a different passion.

Fortunately for me I found that passion and for the first time in my life I am truly enjoying what I'm now doing. I truly enjoy helping others find their passion; helping others discover their passion and then to help them find a way to earn an income that allows them to truly do what they enjoy out of life.

Choosing the right work for you is central to your enjoying high feelings of self esteem and self confidence not only in your work but in every other area of your life. Let me help you find your passion and let me show you that there is a way out of what you are doing now and into what you often dream of doing.
