Hello and thanks for visiting my website. I’m Keith Abell, a pharmacist wellness consultant and business entrepreneur. I want to share with you a little about myself, what I am doing and to see what I may be able to do for you. I realize just how difficult it is in this economy. The unemployment and underemployment rates in this country are astronomical and it’s only going to get worse. If you are one of the unemployed or underemployed I know just how you feel because I have been there recently myself.
You are probably thinking to yourself, “you’re a pharmacist; there are lots of pharmacy jobs out there.” Well you are wrong.
I’ve been a pharmacist now for 18 years. I spent more than 9 of those years with one company in particular working 60 to 70 hours per week for them, sometimes even 80 hours per week just to help them keep the doors open at some of their stores during the pharmacist shortage. Then things changed.
More pharmacy schools opened cranking out new pharmacists by the thousands all across the country. Overnight the pharmacist shortage turned into an overabundance of pharmacists. Also the insurance companies continued to push for ways to save money in healthcare and cut the amount of money they paid to the pharmacies drastically. The same thing has happened in all areas of healthcare. And now with the affordable care act about to swing into full gear, even more money is needed to be cut from the pharmacies expenses.
As a result, at 51 years old, 3 weeks before Christmas I was told that my services where no longer needed, despite the fact that I worked everything they asked me to work. I was replaced by a new graduate making $25,000 less than I was making. Many of my colleagues in my age group all over the country have faced the same situation. Some have even been told that their vacation benefits where costing the company too much money so they were replaced.
I was devastated by the fact that I no longer had a steady income coming in but at the same time I was relieved to get out from behind the counter so I can tell people what I know about those dangerous pharmaceuticals that I dispensed to them and to teach them how to get off those pharmaceuticals by taking their health and wellness into their own hands.
2012 and 2013 were a mixed blessing. I’m not going to lie, it was difficult financially but fortunately we were following Dave Ramsey of Financial Peace University fame’s advice and we were debt free except for the house. Also I was able to find some part time work with a friend’s temp agency which kept us afloat while I pursued my dream. It has also been fantastic to be able to spend time with my granddaughter nearly every day since I now work from home, something that I was never able to do working 70 to 80 hours per week when my kids where small.
So let’s get to the point, what am I doing now that has me so excited?
Well I am still in the health and wellness industry. Now, however, I take a different approach to the subject. Much different than what I was taught in pharmacy school. You see I believe that our bodies are Divinely designed to repair itself if it is given all the necessary tools. After all when you cut your hand you don’t have to tell the body what to do. As long as you keep it clean and prevent it from becoming infected your body knows how to repair the damaged tissue. The same principle applies to every organ in your body. I have witnessed so many recoveries from diseases, recoveries that just a few years ago I would have said were impossible, by supporting and promoting the body’s own ability to repair itself. In a few moments I will share with you some of the testimonials from people that have had amazing success.
