Don't give up - Post 057

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Oftentimes, when we have a dream in our heart, we start off strong. We head down the path toward our goal, and we're so excited! But along the way, we hit some roadblocks and encounter some adversity. Many times, people will just give up and take the easy way out. But we have to remember, it's not how we start that counts; it's how we finish. Anybody can be fired up at the beginning, but I'm encouraging you to stick with it until the end! Have the determination to go all the way through. Don't stop at the halfway mark just because times are tough. Don't quit because you don't see anything happening. The scripture tells us not to walk by sight, but to walk by faith.
Today, if there's a dream in your heart, something you're believing for — a relationship to turn around, a business opportunity or to overcome an addiction — keep pursuing it! Run your race to win the prize! Don't settle until you see the fullness of what God has placed in your heart. As you stand strong in your faith, I believe God will pour out His favor and blessing upon you, and you will see the victory He has in store for you!

Part 7 in series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Propylene Glycol - Post 050

Part 7 in Series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Propylene Glycol
That is a real shock, isn't it?  Well, read on for more details….

I have learned a lot about the lack of safety concerns and regulations.

The first thing that was a real eye opener was that for the most part, the FDA doesn't regulate cosmetics and personal care products. So when we thought they'd let us know about toxins and harmful ingredients….they weren't empowered to do that! Since 1894, this industry has been a self policing organization called the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association – or now known as the Personal Care Products Council.  It's made up of over 600 different product distributors and manufacturers.  It's about like having the fox watch the hen house to ensure 'voluntary regulation'.

What is even MORE shocking is that there are more safety regulations and far more banned chemicals in places like the EU, Canada, Japan, and other health conscious markets than here in the U.S.A. Makes it feel an awful lot like consumers are guinea pigs.

So, what do you need to be aware of in your own products like shampoos, conditioners, lotions, etc.?  Make use of resources that help you determine what is safe for your health and that of your family.  For example, the following ingredients are just a few of the toxins that can actually make you ill if you use them daily in shampoos and conditioners:

·         Propylene Glycol – This ingredient is found in engine coolants and antifreeze, airplane deicers, tire sealants, rubber cleaners, polyurethane cushions, paints, enamels, and other products as a solvent or surfactant. It's a skin irritant that can also cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.  It's more than likely in your shampoo!

REMEMBER, your skin cannot protect you against these toxins.  It is NOT a barrier to entry as many of the medical patches have proven for years.  And toxins in your shampoo and conditioner could well be MORE toxic than what is in your food.

Part 6 in series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Diethanolamine (DEA) - Post 049

Part 6 in series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Diethanolamine (DEA)

That is a real shock, isn't it?  Well, read on for more details….

I have learned a lot about the lack of safety concerns and regulations.

So, let's get right to the sixth chemical compound found in commonly used products.

·         Diethanolamine (DEA) – This toxic chemical ingredient reacts with nitrite preservatives and contaminants in personal care products to form nitrosodienthanolamine (NDEA). NDEA is a known, potent carcinogen.

DEA seems to block choline, a nutrient vital for healthy brain development.  Pregnant women actually need extra choline for fetal development. An associate dean for research at the UNC School of Public Health believed that choline is necessary to help provide proper nutrients for a health baby.

Recently, the FDA reported that around 42% of all cosmetics are contaminated with NDEA – with shampoos having the highest concentrations.

REMEMBER, your skin cannot protect you against these toxins.  It is NOT a barrier to entry as many of the medical patches have proven for years.  And toxins in your shampoo and conditioner could well be MORE toxic than what is in your food.

Part 5 in series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Monosodium glutamate (MSG) - Post 048

Part 5 in series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Monosodium glutamate (MSG)
That is a real shock, isn't it?  Well, read on for more details….
As i have mentioned on previous posts I have learned a lot about the lack of safety concerns and regulations.
Today I will outline the 5th chemical compound found in many personal care products on the market. After you read this be sure you go back and watch my video blog post about what I found in one product in particular. http://youtu.be/KXKIpsDaaTc

·         Monosodium glutamate (MSG) – In your shampoo?  Kidding, right?  Nope, it's often hidden and referred to as yeast extract, naiad, glutamic acid, or glutamates.  Nontheless, the reactions to it in your shampoo are just like in your food.  Symptoms include headache, dizziness, numbness, burning sensations, tingling, facial pressure, nausea, drowsiness and weakness.

REMEMBER, your skin cannot protect you against these toxins.  It is NOT a barrier to entry as many of the medical patches have proven for years.  And toxins in your shampoo and conditioner could well be MORE toxic than what is in your food.

Part 4 of series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Dioxane - Post 047

Part 4 of series: FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Dioxane

That is a real shock, isn't it?  Well, read on for more details….
It really is shocking that the FDA doesn't regulate cosmetics and personal products, or any other agency for that matter. Even if they did they would spend more time chasing after companies like General Mills for making a TRUE claim that oats lower cholesterol than they would spend going after truly unsafe products. They actually threatened General Mills that they would declare Cheerios an unapproved drug and confiscate all the product in their warehouse if they did not cease making the claims.

Did you know that there are more safety regulations and far more banned chemicals in places like the EU, Canada, Japan, and other health conscious markets than here in the U.S.A. Makes it feel an awful lot like consumers are guinea pigs.

·         Dioxane – This toxic chemical was one of over 200 carcinogens linked to breast cancer in 2007 in the medical journal, Cancer. This link to cancer was reported as early as 1965, yet it is still found in personal care products today – for both adults and children!

In 1985, the FDA requested a voluntary limit of dioxane in products of 10 parts per million, but that hasn't happened.

REMEMBER, your skin cannot protect you against these toxins.  It is NOT a barrier to entry as many of the medical patches have proven for years.  And toxins in your shampoo and conditioner could well be MORE toxic than what is in your food.

  • Paraben – Used as a preservative, this toxin has been linked to hormone and endocrine system disruption. Used as an antimicrobial ingredient, this chemical is considered a xeno-estrogen (false estrogen) because it interferes with normal hormonal and estrogen behavior.  Xeno-estrogens mimic, disrupt and block normal behavior and pathways.  For example, parabens can impact fertility, pregnancy, menstruation, and even fat cell activity.  Too much estrogen can cause weight gain, fluid retention and depression.  Scientists have found paraben nodules in breast cancer tumors.

Note:  Check your product labels for these names –

o   Propylparaben

o   Parahydroxybenzoic acid

FDA Doesn't Regulate Shampoos & Conditioners – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - Post 044

That is a real shock, isn't it?  Well, read on for more details….

As a concerned pharmacist I'm going to be sending out a series of posts about the shocking details regarding ingredients in products we put on our skin. I want you to think about this, drug manufacturers are developing an increasing number of medications designed to be placed on the akin and then absorbed into your body. If this is a legitimate way to deliver medications into your body then it only makes sense that these toxic compounds are also absorbed. Take a look at this special report from fox news then read on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3XLJNt5USw&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Each post will highlight a different ingredient.

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate [often referred to as SLS] – This chemical ingredient helps shampoo and soap to lather and foam.  It's used in car washes and garages as a degreasing agent. Acting as a performance enhancer, it helps other ingredients penetrate, allowing potentially toxic ingredients to enter the bloodstream.  According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), research on SLS has shown links to
o   Skin and eye irritation
o   Development and reproductive toxicity
o   Endocrine disruption
o   Ecotoxicological, biochemical or cellular changes
o   Neurotoxicity
o   Possible mutations and cancer

Visit www.ewg.org to see the list of research studies in their PubMed library.  There are some over 15,000 studies as well as lists of health concerns and adverse conditions related to SLS.
Note:  SLS goes by a number of names, including:  sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, ammonium laurel sulfate, sodium dodecylsulfate, sulfuric acid, sodium salt sulfuric acid, A12-00356, Akyposal SDS, Aquarex ME, and Aquarex methyl.  Check your products for this ingredient.

Organic Foods are Higher in Antioxidant Levels - Post 043

A two-year study led by John Reganold of Washington State University that provided side-by-side comparisons of organic and conventional strawberry farms has shown organic farms produced more flavorful and nutritious berries while promoting healthier and more genetically diverse soils. Published Sept. 1, 2010, in the peer-reviewed online journal PLoS One, the research study analyzed 31 chemical and biological soil properties, soil DNA, and the taste, nutrition and quality of three strawberry verities on 13 convention and 13 organic commercial fields in California. The multi-disciplinary research team included expertise in agroecology, soil science, microbial ecology, genetics, pomology, food science, sensory science, and statistics. Findings in the paper showed organic strawberries had significantly higher antioxidant activity and concentrations of ascorbic acid and phenolic compounds, longer shelf life, and dry matter. In addition, the organic soils excelled in the areas of carbon sequestration, nitrogen, microbial biomass, enzyme activities, and micronutrients. Source: John P. Reganold, Preston K. Andrews, Jennifer R. Reeve, Lynne Carpenter-Boggs, Christopher W. Schadt, J. Richard Alldredge, Carolyn F. Ross, Neal M. Get That Prospect Off Your List - Post 042

Get That Prospect Off Your List!

By Geoffrey James

August 12th, 2009 @ 11:30 am

Congratulations! You've got a real live prospect on the line. Your first task is to start selling, right? WRONG! At the very beginning of the sales cycle, your most important task is to find out if you can eliminate the prospect completely from your to-do list.

Yes, you heard me correctly.

Many sales pros (particularly novices) are so thrilled simply to be talking to a real live prospect that they don't want to burst the happy bubble. So they pretend that the mere fact that a prospect has shown a little interest (by not hanging up) means that they're a potential customer.

Nothing could be further from the truth. There are at least half-a-dozen reasons a prospect might show interest but never buy. For instance, the prospect may:
1. feel bored or lonely and just want to talk to somebody.
2. hope to have the offering…someday in the far future.
3. be looking for a catspaw to play against your competitor.
4. be confused about their firm's real needs.
5. think your pricey offering fits within their teeny budget.
6. be looking for new contacts for a future job hunt.

Look, the last thing that you want to do with your valuable time is to waste it on somebody who's NOT going to buy.

So it's a BIG WIN for you whenever you eliminate a prospect from your to-do list. And it's an even BIGGER WIN if you can do this within the first five minutes of talking to the prospect. Here's what you need to know:
• Do they really need your offering?
• Is the financial impact big enough to justify a purchase?
• How do they buy this kind of product?
• Do they have a budget or can one be secured?
• What's their time frame for addressing this issue?
• Who says "Yes" and who can say "No"?

If you can't get a decent answer — or a process to get an answer — to any of these questions, then you're WASTING YOUR TIME.

On the other hand, if you can get answers — or a process in place to get those answers, you've got a real opportunity.

But let's be clear: if that prospect ain't gonna buy, you wanna exit ASAP.

The Key to Authentic Leadership - Post 041

The Key to Authentic Leadership

The key to authentic leadership is to listen to your followers, and then open the door for them to lead themselves. The secret is empowerment. The main incentive is genuine caring and recognition.
The five most important words a leader can speak are: "I am proud of you."
The four most important are: "What is your opinion?"
The three most important are: "If you please."
The two most important are: "Thank You."
And the most important single word of all is: "You!"
This week, be generous in your use of words that nurture trust in you as a caring leader.

Prospecting - Post 040

Great article from Tom "Big Al" Schreiter on prospecting!
Distributor #1 goes to lunch. The waiter comes by and says:
"What would you like to order?"
Distributor #1 replies:
"A hamburger, french fries and a Coke."
Distributor #1 then goes home, calls his sponsor and complains that no one is interested in the products, no one is looking for an opportunity, the meetings are too far away, and no one can make any money in this business.
Meanwhile ...   Distributor #2 goes to lunch. The waiter comes by and says:
"What would you like to order?"
Distributor #2 replies:
"Are you married to your job, or are you open-minded?"
The waiter says:
"Of course I'm open-minded. I don't want to be a waiter all my life. What do you have in mind?"
Distributor #2 sets an appointment to talk with the waiter during the waiter's coffee break.
Distributor #2 also has a constant supply of leads, appointments, guests for meetings, and new distributors joining weekly.   So ...   Both Distributor #1 and Distributor #2:
  1. Have the same territory.
  2. Have the same prospects.
  3. Represent the same products.
  4. Represent the same opportunity.
  5. Have the same weather.
Everything is the same for Distributor #1 and Distributor #2 EXCEPT:
"Distributor #2 simply says and does something different."
That's it.
Success in network marketing isn't luck, good weather, etc. Success is simply saying and doing the right things.   So when your distributors complain they don't have any prospects, or they complain that no one wants to join, tell them the above story.   Then they will realize that they don't have to find new prospects. Instead, they simply have to learn what to say and what to do with the people they already come in contact with.   They also will realize that success is within their control. They can choose to learn the skills of what to say or what to do, or they can whine, complain and hope someone will have sympathy for their unsuccessful business.   Yeah, this is really cruel ;-)

Listening May Be The Key - Post 039

Listening May Be The Key

Have you ever noticed that most people are usually unhappy with one of these four things: their finances, the amount of free time they have, their job, or their health. Next time you hear this, try this: Listen for the dissatisfaction and then offer to help.

For example, if someone complains to you about always being tired. You should first listen and learn more about this, then after genuinely listening, try asking a key question such as, "If I could show you how to boost your stamina and energy, would you like to learn more?" Do you see how this works? First, you are offering to help, and then you are asking if they want information. Alright, let's say that someone is frustrated with their job. First listen and learn more about what they do. Find out how long they have been in that line of work, what they like about it, and what they don't like about it. Listen for their "hot buttons", then ask, "If I could show you an alternative to your stressful job, would you be interested?"

Most people enjoy helping others. When you are working from a caring, passionate perspective, you can't help but attract customers and distributors to you.

Visit my website http://TheRx4Wealth.com Watch the videos, fill out the contact form, then lets talk about what I can do for you.
