Vitamins for the Mind - Post 037

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn
Communication/Persuasion
Better understated than overstated. Let people be surprised that it was more than you promised and easier than you said.
For effective communication, use brevity. Jesus said, "Follow me." Now that's brief! He could be brief because of all that he was that he didn't have to say.
You cannot speak that which you do not know. You cannot share that which you do not feel. You cannot translate that which you do not have. And you cannot give that which you do not possess. To give it and to share it, and for it to be effective, you first need to have it. Good communication starts with good preparation.
The goal of effective communication should be for listeners to say, "Me, too!" versus "So what?"
Learn to express, not impress.
Be brief on the logic and reason portions of your presentation. There are probably about a thousand facts about an automobile, but you don't need them all to make a decision. About a half dozen will do.
Effective communication is 20 percent what you know and 80 percent how you feel about what you know.
What is powerful is when what you say is just the tip of the iceberg of what you know.
It's not the matter you cover, so much as it is the manner in which you cover it.

The stupidest, easiest, simplest, no brainer way to a check... - Post 036

The stupidest, easiest, simplest, no brainer way to a check...

Here is part of an e-mail I received from network marketing pro Todd Falcone ( toddfalcone.com please subscribe to his blog)

"I'm sitting in the Atlanta airport heading to Orlando this morning and thought I'd
give you a stupid simple challenge.
Ready?
No joke.  What I'm going to tell you to do is sure to make you at least 6-figures in the future.  And...if you follow me at all, you know I'm FAR from full of crap.
I despise hype and people who are full of fluff and garbage.  So...listen clearly.
If you want to get more business, you have to go GET it.  You have to ASK for it.
You're not going to get anything unless you SEEK it...and then ASK it.
Here's what I want you to do for the next 30 days.
DO NOT let a single prospect get away from you without asking the question,
"WHO DO YOU KNOW?"
I've said this to you before...and I will say it again.  If you are letting ANY prospect
get away from you without you asking the parting question of "Who do you know?"
you are LOSING.  You are throwing money away.  You are literally tossing away
business.
STOP the BLEEDING NOW.  Start asking.
Any time a prospect says 'no' to you or isn't interested in your product, service or business, simply ask them something like:
- Who do you know who is sharp?
- Who do you know who could use some extra money?
- Who do you know that is health conscious? (if you're in a health company)
- Who do you know who....?

DO IT.  Don't you DARE glaze over this email and treat this as nothing.  If you let ANY prospect leave you without you asking that question, you are not being 100% on your game. "

Have you ever considered owning your own business? - Post 035

Have you ever considered owning your own business? If so, why haven't you?
Would you consider owning your own business if . . .
. . . Start up coss were low
. . . Income potential was high
. . . Time investment was 5-20 hours per week
. . . If could continue to work at current job
. . . If you decided to get out of business you could return your inventory for up to 90% return
. . . Business consultants were available for unlimited hours for the life of your business
Would you consider it if all of the above were true?

The Biggest Scam in the U.S. - Post 034

The Biggest Scam in the U.S.

I love this!
I was just on my Facebook wall and read something from my friend Tony that he posted.

This is SOOOOO TRUE!  And you are going to LOVE this, especially when ignorant idiots try to make fun of you for being an entrepreneur.

He wrote:
"The biggest scam in the U.S. is not a home business. The biggest scam is a college degree and the belief that getting a degree will necessarily get you a good-paying job. Today, U.S. student loans now exceed U.S. credit card debt. Over $800 Billion dollars owed."

Now...don't get my wrong.  I'm not saying college isn't cool.  I loved college.  Hope my two boys go.  But...think about that.  People talk about home businesses being scams, but the REAL scam is teaching people how to go build equity in somebody else's company, rather than do their own thing.

College teaches us to do what?  College teaches you how to go get a JOB.  College teaches you how to go earn a WAGE and work for someone else.

Yes...other than our Social Security system, which I will NOT get into today, one of the biggest scams being perpetuated onto the public is the idea that if you go to college, invest tens of thousands of dollars, you can actually get a good paying job and live your dream.

Kinda thought that was interesting.  Don't you think?  Think I'll stick to being an entrepreneur...how bout you?

Self Confidence! - Post 033

Self confidence refers to "assuredness in your own self worth, abilities and power.
If you feel that you are worth anything that you are accomplishing or going after then you have the confidence to succeed. The lack of self worth drags us down because if we don't feel like we deserve anything we don't feel that we are good enough. This all boils down to a lack of self worth.   Typical Behaviors of People with Low Self Confidence
  1. Undervaluing what you are capable of. Feeling like you have a lack of education, lack of physical abilities, don't have the right connections, don't live in right place, don't have the looks, lack assertiveness, and more
  2. Taking blame for something even when it's not your fault.
  3. being overly shy and reserved. You don't feel like you have something worthwhile to say.
  4. overly critical of self
  5. hung up on poor outcomes in past.
  6. Pre-occupied with negative outcomes.
  7. fearful, adverse attitude toward most things. Like a naysayer, always something bad to say.
  8. Continually doing things to please others. Doesn't take care of self needs because always worried about the happiness of others.
My next post will lay out some steps to overcome these and gain confidence.

True Grit! - Post 032

"The man who makes a success of an important venture never wails for the crowd. He strikes out for himself. It takes nerve, it takes a great lot of grit; but the man that succeeds has both. Anyone can fail. The public admires the man who has enough confidence in himself to take a chance. These chances are the main things after all. The man who tries to succeed must expect to be criticized. Nothing important was ever done but the greater number consulted previously doubted the possibility. Success is the accomplishment of that which most people think can't be done."
